Methodology Class 4/04/2011

Presentation and explanations

This topic refers to the necessity of the students to feel attracted by the teacher's presentations, they need to be able to perceive and understand what the teacher wants to transmit.

So this objective (that is one of the teacher's job) is performed following three steps that are needed to achieve this skill. First we have "Attention" that is the moment when the student is alert, and pay attention to what the teacher is saying and explaining. In this step the teacher has to make sure that the student is actually attending.
The second step is "Perception"; here the student hears and sees clearly the material, so it's important for teachers to repeat it in order to add more opportunities for a better perception.
"Understanding" is the last step, the learners understand the teacher's material/instruction/explanation, in this case it should be like they can assimilate what the teacher ir saying or demonstrating, so they can relationate it with their previous knowlegde. The best thing that a teacher can do in those three steps is check if the students are following the different stages.
